Jim Mora explains draft comments about former UCLA QB Josh Rosen

Jim Mora Josh Rosen's a Millennial ... Needs Brain Stimulation

After telling NFL Network he'd select USC's Sam Darnold over his former player last week, the ex-UCLA coach, who was let go from the team last season, attempted to clarify his remarks with the MMQB, only to possibly make a bigger mess over Rosen's football commitment in the process.

Jim Mora thinks Josh Rosen will have to be tested as he prepares to enter the pros.

During the same NFL Network broadcast, Mora added that he thought Rosen would fit well with the New York Giants or Jets, the teams with the second and third overall picks.

In a follow-up interview, Mora said while Rosen is gifted, he also said he's a "millennial" who needs to be "challenged intellectually".

Chinese Satellite Tiangong-1 Falls In Pacific Oceon
Tiangong-1's descent had been closely monitored for weeks, with the European Space Agency taking a lead role. China plans to finalise its space station to rival Mir, the Russian space station now in orbit by 2022.

Tonight: There will be some clear spells overnight, although further showery outbreaks of rain are also likely. Late Tuesday night, a fast-moving cold front will produce a squall line into the predawn hours of Wednesday .

LA Chargers Sign Quarterback Geno Smith
Since the Jets selected him in the second round of the 2013 draft, Smith has carved out a niche as a backup quarterback. Thus ends the five-year NY tenure for Smith, whose roller-coaster professional career began in 2013.

Mora also said Rosen could be a "franchise-changer" and that he is sharp at diagnosing the game. "He's got the ability to have an immediate impact. He'd come to the sidelines after a play and it was uncanny- he could right away say exactly why he made every decision".

Given the way Mora glowed about Rosen's intelligence and ability, many in the National Football League wondered why his curiosity and outside interests should be viewed as a negative. He's a millennial. He wants to know why. Josh has a lot of interests in life.

The former UCLA coached cited that Darnold is a better fit in Cleveland rather than the quarterback he used to coach at UCLA. "Millennials, once they know why, they're good", Mora said. He has so much ability, and he's a really good kid. And then if I was one of the NY teams, I'd take Josh like that [snaps fingers]. What Mora may be hinting at is that Rosen's independent thinking will not fit in a league where players are expected to keep quiet and follow orders. Others have hypothesized that Rosen's comfortable background - his father is a surgeon - means he lacks the hunger to be a great player.

This is somewhat reminiscent of Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly throwing shade on his quarterback, DeShone Kizer, in the weeks before the draft a year ago, when he said Kizer should've stayed in school and needed to mature more.
