Peretti, whose sister is Peele's wife, comedian Chelsea Peretti, insisted he felt the video was an ideal fit for BuzzFeed, which has previously reported on fake news. Peele ended the video with a statement that would make Obama's anger translator proud. No word on whether or not Obama himself signed off on the video, but it is pretty convincing and definitely gets the point across. Peretti wanted the video to come to fruition because BuzzFeed has covered counterfeit news websites extensively.
Written by Jordan Peele for Buzzfeed, we see Obama begin with what seems like a regular Public Service Announcement, but it's later revealed to actually be Peele nailing his famous impression of the 44th President over a digitally manipulated video. Produced in collaboration with Peele's Monkeypaw Productions, BuzzFeed creative director Jared Sosa figured out how to use motion graphics program After Effects and video editing software Fakeapp to superimpose Peele's mouth over Obama's, later synchronizing its positioning and further refining the footage to its realistic final product.
