The judge also said she would consider USA prosecutors' plan to have a team of independent government lawyers review the materials.

Wood said at a hearing Monday that she might grant a request by Cohen's attorneys to appoint a neutral lawyer known as a "special master" to help resolve some conflicts over attorney-client privilege, though she said she anticipated that person would have a limited role.

Documents from the Trump Organization are in the Cohen trove.

Wood's decision on who gets to review boxes, hard drives and electronic equipment taken in the April 9 raid of Cohen's home, office and hotel room will bear on how much prosecutors might learn about Cohen's dealings with clients.

Wood has yet to rule on what protocol will be used to review the material.

Also on the list are Tai Park and Joan McPhee - both former federal prosecutors now working as white-collar attorneys. Canellos is a former co-director of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's enforcement division.

Cohen's attorneys have said much of the material seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the April 9 raid on his home, hotel room, law office and safe deposit box is potentially subject to the privilege. Trump himself has intervened in the case, arguing through lawyer Joanna Hendon that communications between him and Cohen that may be in the documents are subject to attorney-client privilege. Cohen has said he made the payment from his own account.

Goldberg is one of several personal advisers that Trump has reached out to recently about the criminal investigation into Cohen, a longtime personal attorney for the president. Daniels has sued to end her nondisclosure agreement.
