Witness testifies Constand lied about sexual assault with Cosby for money
Jurors at Bill Cosby's sexual assault retrial on Wednesday heard his damaging testimony about giving a sedative to women before sex.
Cosby, 80, testified more than a dozen years ago as part of a civil lawsuit that Constand filed against him, and prosecutors won the right to introduce it at his sexual-assault retrial on charges he drugged and molested her at his suburban Philadelphia home. Constand has said she barely knew Jackson and never roomed with anyone else. But his defense team has called Constand a "con artist" who set him up by leveling false accusations of sexual assault.
Cosby paid Ms Constand almost $3.4 million dollars in 2006. Regan said that's the story Dickinson told her while she was working on the book in 2001 and 2002.
Jackson's claim has already been directly refuted by Constand, who testified earlier in the trial that she not only had never roomed with Jackson, but also that she always had her own room on team trips. Since then, prosecutors have told Cosby's lawyers that Constand had modified her statement to acknowledge she "recalls a Margo". "But I could say it did". I could quit my job. "And then I stopped, and I went up to bed. I could open up a business".
Cosby is being retried for an alleged 2004 sexual assault of Constand. Gray-Young testified that all calls to the office would have gone through her first, and she never forwarded any calls from Cosby to Constand.
Marguerite Jackson, an academic adviser at Temple University, took the witness stand after a judge overruled prosecutors and said she could tell her story to the jury. Constand has testified she rejected Cosby's prior advances. The comedian offered to buy her a drink, she said, then cracked that "he wouldn't put anything in it".
"They came in. Took my statement". "They called me to testify, then they didn't allow my testimony".
Jurors at the first trial previous year heard excerpts from the deposition but deadlocked on sexual assault charges. That trial ended without a verdict after jurors deadlocked.
Cosby's camp said they planned to start calling defense witnesses in the meantime.

The explosive admission was presented to jurors after six women testified last week that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted them.
A detective read to the jury a transcript of old testimony in which Cosby answers questions from Constand's lawyer about quaaludes. The deposition was hidden from public view until 2015, when The Associated Press petitioned to have it unsealed, leading prosecutors to reopen the criminal case. Montgomery County Detective James Reape, who has been working on the Cosby investigation since it was reopened in 2015, told jurors he wasn't concerned about inconsistencies in Constand's story, such as her early uncertainty over the date of the alleged assault, because Cosby's testimony had filled in numerous blanks.
In a transcript, Cosby said he obtained seven prescriptions for quaaludes from his doctor in Los Angeles in the 1970s, ostensibly for a sore back.
Cosby, who was deposed in 2005 and 2006 as part of his chief accuser's civil suit, was asked about quaaludes, a 1970s party drug that's been banned in the USA since 1982.
Cosby's lawyers argued the testimony is irrelevant to his retrial because there is no evidence he gave Constand the drug.
On Tuesday, Montgomery County Detective James Reape, who has been working on the Cosby investigation since it was reopened in 2015, told jurors he wasn't concerned about inconsistencies the defense played up in Constand's story - such as her early uncertainty over the date of the alleged assault - because Cosby's testimony had filled in numerous blanks. He says he gave her a cold and allergy medicine - not quaaludes - and that their encounter was consensual.
On the witness stand, however, Dickinson testified that the real story was far different: She said Cosby gave her a pill that he said would help with her menstrual cramps, then raped her while she was incapacitated by the effects of whatever he gave her.
