Kelis Describes Years Of Violent Abuse At The Hands Of Her Ex-Husband, Nas
In 2015 Kelis launched her catering and food company Bounty and Full, she's released a cookbook, opened a food truck and recently the mother of two has moved to a farm to get away from the Hollywood limelight.
In 2009, Kelis says she thought about leaving Nas after details of Rihanna's abuse from Chris Brown came to light.
'We had really intense highs and really intense lows.
"Did he hit me? Mhm. So when that comes down, it goes really low".
Almost a decade after filing for divorce from Nas, Kelis breaks her silence on what she says was a mentally and physically abusive marriage. Kelis admitted it "got to the point where if I wasn't pregnant, I might have stayed with him". Before alleging that Nas would instigate physical fights with her while blacked out from drinking, Kelis alluded to the abuse by saying the rapper's infidelity was not why she chose to end the marriage. We were drinking too much, smoking too much, spending too much. That they would have fistfights, drink and smoke too much and just led a very unhealthy relationship.
Before things could get better, she says they just got worse.

"And so a lot of the stuff, he may not remember", she continued. "But you don't want to do what parents really do. I have never talked about this man, ever", she explained.
Jason then asked Kelis directly if Nas put his hands on her, to which she replied. Earlier this month, Nas claimed that Kelis violated their custody agreement by refusing to turn over their son during Passover.
Meanwhile, the revelations resulted in Twitter users lashing out. "Mmm hmmm." said Kelis. "F- male rappers forever for real".
Kelis and Nas celebrate her birthday at Buddakan in New York City in 2006.
"NAS WAS WHOOPING KELIS ASS?" someone else said. "I am so angry".
