
South Korean K-Pop singers to perform in North Korea
The troupe was received by Hyon Song Wol, who led the Samjiyon Orchestra last month.

"Spring is Coming" is the title of the performances by the troupe, which come ahead of an inter-Korean summit slated for April 27.
A 70-member technical crew arrived in the North on Thursday in preparation for the concerts.
The event in Pyongyang will feature 11 South Korean artists and is scheduled to take place on April 1 and April 3.
During a meeting with North Korea's Culture Minister Pak, Do said he hopes the planned performance will serve as a stepping stone for inter-Korean cultural exchange and cooperation which he thinks are key to improving inter-Korean relations. However, Red Velvet is much more scintillating than anything that exists in North Korea, which has its own version of K-pop with Moranbong. "We will work hard so that we are able to show you a cool performance".

The South Korean delegation will include some of the country's pop legends, including Cho Yong-pil, Lee Sunhee and Cho Jin Hee, who performed in Pyongyang during a previous era of detente. Past South Korean performances in the North included a joint symphony concert, an opera and folk music.
The rapprochement was triggered by the South's Winter Olympics, to which the North's leader Kim Jong Un sent athletes, cheerleaders and his powerful sister as an envoy.
Joy, one of the five members of Red Velvet, will miss the trip to Pyongyang due to her TV drama shooting schedule, their agency SM Entertainment said.
Do told reporters in Pyongyang that the ministry plans to propose to the North that the joint project to compile the Korean People's Grand Dictionary - collection of South Korean and North Korean vocabulary - be resumed.
