Geno Smith is heading to Los Angeles

Thus ends the five-year NY tenure for Smith, whose roller-coaster professional career began in 2013.
Smith has spent the first five years of his National Football League career in NY, starting with the Jets from 2013-16.
Since the Jets selected him in the second round of the 2013 draft, Smith has carved out a niche as a backup quarterback. He followed it up with 4,205 passing yards and 42 touchdowns as a senior in 2012. Next up, a torn ACL ending his chance of supplanting Ryan Fitzpatrick at the Jets starter. He held on to the job in 2014, but things began to unravel when an altercation with teammate IK Enemkpali left Smith with a fractured jaw. He started one game, when Eli Manning was controversially benched, and appeared in one other game. Over those three games, Smith put up 391 yards and three touchdowns.
This offseason, most free agent quarterbacks found new teams quickly. His primary objective in blue was originally to provide veteran backup depth to Eli Manning, but he was also selected to serve as a mentor to incoming rookie Davis Webb.
Smith played four seasons with the New York Jets after going 39th overall in the 2013 draft, then spent last season with the New York Giants.

Since 2006, Rivers has started 192 straight regular-season games. The 27-year-old joins a Chargers depth chart that also includes Cardale Jones, who has thrown just 11 passes as a professional quarterback.
He signed with the Giants as a free agent before the 2017 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
