Prosecutors want Cosby jury to hear testimony on quaaludes
More than 50 women have come forward to publicly accuse Cosby of drugging and raping them, but the trial is focused exclusively on accusations from Constand, a former employee at Temple University in Philadelphia, Cosby's alma mater.
Jury selection for the retrial got under way on Monday, with all but 10 potential jurors indicating they have knowledge about the case.
And all but one had heard or seen something about #MeToo, the powerful cultural movement that's been exposing sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry.
As many as five women will testify against Cosby.
On March 30, the judge implied he might not let the jury hear about Cosby's prior testimony.
On Friday, O'Neill said the "defendant is not on trial for what he said in his deposition", which could hint the judge has made up his mind. He has pleaded not guilty.
Typically prosecutors and defense attorneys can take what happened at the first trial, learn from it and improve on it in the retrial, but some experts say the climate surrounding sexual assault has changed so thoroughly that both sides should go back to the drawing board.

About 125 prospective jurors filled out a standard questionnaire, answering questions about their background and their ability to be impartial.
As Bill Cosby's retrial on sexual-assault charges begins this week, the second courtroom showdown between the 80-year-old entertainer and Andrea Constand is shaping up to be no simple repeat of the first.
The former TV star appeared in a suburban Philadelphia courthouse as jury selection got under way. His first trial ended in a hung jury.
She alleges that Cosby gave her pills and sexually assaulted her as she drifted in and out of consciousness.
The #MeToo movement against sexual misconduct has toppled famous men in rapid succession, among them Harvey Weinstein, Matt Lauer, Kevin Spacey and Democratic US Senator Al Franken.
The process of picking 12 jurors begins Monday in suburban Philadelphia.
