Slide Fire, which could not be reached by phone on Wednesday morning, dominates the bump stocks market. At the moment, however, shoppers can still purchase bump stocks from Slide Fire and on firearms resale websites such as Gun Broker. This came in conjunction with a flood of efforts, both legislative and regulatory, to ban the stocks and a host of other trigger devices at the federal, local and state level.

According to Slide Fire, located in Moran, about 40 miles east of Abilene, at midnight CST on Sunday, May 20, 2018, the company will cease orders and the website will no longer exist.

More than 50 people were killed in the Las Vegas shooting, which was the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history. The company did not say on its website what will happen to its factory in Texas.

Soon after the shooting, which claimed 58 lives, congressional leaders considered regulating or banning bump stocks. Slide Fire would occasionally run out of inventory and suspend sales, and then eventually start selling them again.

The country's biggest bump stock manufacturer has chose to stop taking orders - and will be shutting down its website for good next month.

The decision is likely to face court challenges from gun owners who may argue that only Congress has the authority to outlaw bump stocks.
