We have gone past the first quarter of 2018 and what's odd is that LG has yet to debut a flagship smartphone, that is unless you count the LG V30S which is more like an upgraded version of last year's LG V30. But most surprising, Blass claims that LG will then release the V40 ThinQ later this summer or early fall. LG is rumored to release two new V-series phones, the LG V35 ThinQ and LG V40 ThinQ, soon after the LG G7, according to mobile tipster Evan Blass.
At this point, we don't have any details on the LG V35 and LG V40 but we're assuming they will be ThinQ devices as well just like the upcoming LG G7.
There's not a lot of information as to what the LG V40 ThinQ will offer. The V30S ThinQ was launched in February this year and came with the first of its kind AI technology suite that packed the company's QLens, AI Cam, Voice AI and Vision AI. This was a surprise to many and it may have been the first sign that LG was indeed changing up its smartphone strategy.

Also given that LG ditched the secondary ticker display in last year's LG V30, it seems highly unlikely that it will be making a comeback this year. With that in mind, it seems safe to assume that the V40 ThinQ will be a flagship Android phone powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. Judging by the name alone, we can speculate that it will be the "true" successor to the LG V30 and that it will feature AI-centric features - most likely for photography - based on the use of LG's ThinQ brand.
Shortly after, Blass cleared up a bit of confusion some were having with the release of the company's V series of smartphones.
LG's mobile division struggled previous year due to the lackluster sales of the LG G6. In January, LG vice chairman Cho Seong-jin said that the company will no longer follow its usual timeline to launch its smartphones in order to improve its struggling mobile business.
