Bye-polls in Kairana, Nagaland, Palghar and Bhandara-Gondiya will be held on May 28, says poll body
The bypoll to the Kairana seat was necessitated after BJP veteran Hukum Singh passed away in February.
The by-elections to Kairana Lok Sabha seat and Noorpur assembly seat will be held on May 28, according Election Commission's poll schedule announced on Thursday.
Counting of votes for both the consitituencies will be held on May 31, the spokesperson said.
The bypolls in Maharashtra will be held on Bhandara-Gondiya and Palghar Lok Sabha constituencies.
When contacted, ruling NDPP party spokesperson Merentoshi R. Jamir informed Nagaland Post that it would be premature to comment and added that his will hold a meeting with its alliance partner BJP, before declare its decision in a day or two.

In 2017, the cumulative vote count of the SP, BSP and Congress in the five assembly seats stood at 4.98 lakh. The death of BJP legislator Chintaman Wangaya left the Palghar seat vacant.
- In Nagaland, the sole Lok Sabha seat was represented by Neiphiu Rio, who was had to vacate the seat earlier in the year after being elected as the Chief Minister of the state.
With the announcement of the by-election to the Nagaland parliamentary constituency, Sinha said the election model code of Conduct will come into immediate effect and will remain in force till the completion of the by-poll process.
The Assembly constituencies going to polls include Tharali in Uttrakhand, Noorpur in Uttar Pradesh, Jokihat in Bihar, Gomia and Silli in Jharkhand, Chengannur in Kerala and Maheshtala in West Bengal.
