Meek Mill's Judge Denies Request For Bail Release

Though the Philadelphia district attorney and the governor of Pennsylvania have both recently voiced support for his cause, Meek Mill's appeal to be released from prison on bail has been denied. According to CBS Philly, Brinkley said the court found him "in technical violation of his probation for the fifth time, and as result, revoked his probation and sentenced him to a term of two to four years state incarceration". Mill's lawyer Joe Tocapina said it was a flawless illustration of Judge Genece Brinkley's "personal vendetta" against the 30-year-old rapper.

Meek's lawyer, Joe Tacopina, tells XXL that the denied request "reaffirms" that Judge Brinkley has a personal vendetta against the rapper. His imprisonment sparked a wave of protests as public figures from Colin Kaepernick and Jay-Z to Julius Erving argued the case represents a miscarriage of justice. He was then charged in August with felony reckless endangerment for allegedly driving an all-terrain vehicle in New York City, a matter resolved by "a negotiated resolution" through a diversionary program that required him to perform community service.

Meek's team will reportedly appeal the decision to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Judge Brinkley accused Meek Mill's team of "fabricating" these alleged wrongdoings.
