Middle-earth: Shadow of War Developer Will Remove Microtransactions in Future Update

Shadow of War launched previous year to high acclaim for its refined Nemesis system but took heavy backlash for the heavy integration of single-player microtransactions that allowed gamers to essentially skip much of the game's content.

Shadow of War released about six months ago, and was generally a very good game, but those pesky microtransactions wormed their way in, offering needless new ways to gather orcs for your army.

The core promise of the Nemesis System is the ability to build relationships with your personal allies and enemies in a dynamic open world. The developer says the reason behind the change is that the additional purchases can take away from the game's Nemesis System, where players can fight and capture different level Orcs according to a hierarchy.

No more microtransactions for Middle Earth: Shadow of War.

During an interview over the weekend, Brad Stevens told reporters that he believes that Dwyane Casey should be Coach of the Year. I don't think that's ever been done, correct me if I'm wrong. "And the combination of those two has led to the season.".

Intel also expanded its eighth-generation desktop-class processor lineup today, with the Core i3-8300, i5-8500, and i5-8600. That said, gaming is still not going to see a huge hike in performance with these new six-core chip.

As a result gold, war chests (the game's name for loot boxes), and the whole microtransactions market will be removed from Shadow Of War with an update. On July 17, Gold, War Chests and the Market will be removed. There will be a specific amount of time given for players to utilize their unused Gold.

Until its removal, players will be able to use Gold they have earned to purchase War Chests, while after its removal on July 17th, 2018, any Gold that players have will automatically be converted into War Chests at a rate of 150 Gold per chest (those with under 150 Gold will automatically receive 1 single Chest).

Please note that the above updates are free for all Shadow of War owners. For players who have already completed the Shadow Wars, it will remain completed.

In addition to the above, Monolith has announced free updates for the Shadow Wars mode, which will be receiving new narrative elements and various other gameplay improvements, including Nemesis System updates, new player skins, skill tree additions, gear system upgrades and progression updates. One of our other criticisms of the game in our original review was the tedious Shadow Wars endgame that saw you having to take part in a series of extra hard fortress battles which felt suspiciously like they had been created to encourage using microtransactions.
