Body Discovered Near Site of California Cliff Crash That Killed Family

Hart's body was found almost two weeks after her mother, Jennifer Hart, 38, intentionally drove off a 100-foot cliff 20 miles north of Fort Bragg with her wife and children.

Dana and Bruce Dekalb, who were neighbors of the Harts, reported the family to Child Protective Services, they said, because some of the children, including Devonte, had come to them asking for food and telling them they didn't want to go home.

Police previously announced they believed Hart drove the vehicle off of the cliff intentionally.

"It started out as one time a day and escalated up to three times a day, until a week went by and we decided that we needed to get professional help". By the next morning, the family and their auto were gone.

Child Protective Services tried to visit the family twice more, on March 26 and 27, but couldn't make contact, the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services said.

Also on March 26, one of Sarah Hart's friends called 911 requesting a welfare check.

The bodies of Markis, 19, Abigail, 14, and Jeremiah, 14, were found after the accident.

A sixth body was found last week but it has yet to be identified. A family friend, Alexandra Argyropoulos also reported the family to social services in OR in 2013.

Jennifer Hart stopped at a Safeway grocery store in Fort Bragg, California, which was captured on surveillance camera the following morning.

They remained in the area until at least 9 o'clock that night, but there's no further information regarding the family's whereabouts until their SUV was found upside down on the Pacific coast.

The Centers for Disease Control says 35 people from 11 states have been infected with the strain of E. coli from romaine lettuce. According to the CDC , no common grower, supplier, distributor, or brand has been identified at this time.

Their bodies were found March 26 near the small city of Mendocino.

She was driving the SUV, and had a blood alcohol level of.10%, which is over California's legal limit to drive, .08%, police said.

The active ingredient in Benadryl, diphenhydramine, was discovered in the bodies of Sarah Hart, and two of the couple's three children recovered on the scene, the Sheriff's Office said.

The presence of the substance has not been determined in the third child.

Sarah and Jennifer Hart and their six adopted children were believed to be in the family's SUV when it plunged off a cliff in Mendocino County, more than 160 miles north of San Francisco.

No skid marks were seen in the area, officials said.

"At this point in our investigation, that is the direction we are going", Baarts said.

There were no witnesses to help guide police.

Authorities have said that data from the vehicle's software suggested the crash was deliberate, though the California Highway Patrol has not concluded why the vehicle went off an ocean overlook on a rugged part of coastline.
