Salem is now lodged Taloja jail for his role in the 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai that had killed 257 and injured 713 people.

Terror convict has appealed to the prison department from his Taloja jail cell for of 45 days for his with his new lady love, Kausar Bahar.

Police are trying to verify the authenticity of Salem's claims, The Times of India reported.

The 27-year-old woman hails from Mumbra town in Thane district, Maharashtra. According to a report in Hindustan Times, Salem had mentioned in his plea that he was planning to tie the knot on May 5.

Salem had earlier sought the permission of the TADA court - which had pronounced the verdict in 1993 Bombay blasts case - for registration of his marriage with a woman he is believed to have married secretly.

Salem had claimed that he had reportedly married Bahar during a phone conversation while he was being taken to Lucknow under police escort. Earlier, he made a number of applications in the TADA court pleading that he be escorted to the registrar of marriages office in Mumbai. Bahar had threatened to commit suicide if she was not allowed to Salem and had moved an application to the effect in court.

Salem was past year convicted in the Mumbai bomb blasts case of 1993 as one of the key conspirators; he knowingly facilitated the transportation and supply of arms and ammunition for intended terrorist activities. Besides the March 1993 Mumbai blasts case, Salem has already been sentenced to life in the builder Pradeep Jain's murder case of March 7, 1995, at Juhu.

Reports by PTI state that the TADA court here had convicted Salem and five others in June for their role in the serial bomb blasts of March 12, 1993, in which 257 people were killed.
