Police suspected FSU's Deondre Francois planned to sell marijuana

Tallahassee police reportedly executed a search warrant at the apartment of Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois after receiving a tip he may be selling marijuana.

The anonymous male tipster, who said he was inside Francois's apartment in late February, told TPD he saw a large paper grocery-type bag full of cannabis, estimated at about two pounds, present during a drug-related crime. Authorities searched Francois' garbage on four separate occasions during the investigation, according to the search warrant.

Francois was not arrested and offered the chance to participate in a pre-trial diversion program after the search. He competed for the starting job in the spring with sophomore James Blackman, who started FSU's last 11 games last season and is considered the frontrunner to retain the job in the fall.

FSU coach Willie Taggart told reporters following Saturday's spring game that the school was handling disciple for Francois "internally". "He understands my expectation of what I'm looking for, especially when it comes to our quarterback".

Disgruntled Vegas casino employee killed wounded executive at shooting State
A Las Vegas casino worker is a wanted fugitive after turning up to a company picnic and shooting two co-workers. The victim of a violent homicide at an event for employees of a Las Vegas casino this week has been identified.

Cops ultimately didn't buy it and cited Francois for possession.

The location of Francois' home prevented TPD from conducting constant surveillance, according to the warrant.

Cops say Francois' girlfriend, Diamond Simone Lindsey, was in the house at the time of the search - and if you recognize that name, it's because she's the same person who accused the QB of domestic violence back in January.

Police believed the evidence present in the garbage suggested criminal activity in the apartment, and Francois said the marijuana found during the apartment search belonged to his girlfriend. On Tuesday, the Orlando Sentinel revealed that Francois was the subject of a two-month drug investigation. He must also pay a cost of $100 for prosecution to the state attorney's office.
