Telugu News Anchor Commits Suicide

In a tragic incident, a 30-year-old Telugu TV channel news anchor committed suicide by jumping off the sixth floor of her apartment in Hyderabad late Sunday night. "My brain is my enemy". Reports say, Ms Reddy and her 14-year-old son were staying with her parents since her divorce six months ago. On Sunday night after duty, she arrived in the apartment in Moosapet area around 10.40pm and went upstairs in a hurry.

She was allegedly suffering from depression and a suicide note was recovered from the spot, Kukatpally ACP N. Bujanga Rao said.

She went directly to the 5th floor and took the plunge. She is living with her parents in Mooosapet.

However, the most gory and upsetting suicide of a news anchor remains that of Christine Chubbuck, who killed herself live on air in 1974. Her son has a mental disability, says the police report. She came home from work and straight walked up to the terrace of her residence and jumped off, said the police. She had been seeing a psychiatrist and also tried to overdose on drugs in 1970.
