Steven Spielberg's latest film, Ready Player One, arrived in a big way, topping the box-office weekend with a $41.2 million take (and a $53.2 million opening overall). That's the second-largest opening weekend of the year behind "Black Panther", which hit theaters in mid-February and is now the 10th highest-grossing movie of all time worldwide. (Ready Player One was still #1 in the States this weekend.) Outside of China and the U.S., Ready Player One continues to earn in other markets, as well. One of the most demanding productions ever created, with nearly 60 per cent of the film using Audiomotion and Vicon's performance capture technology, it was filmed in Warner Bros's Leavesden studio complex in Hertfordshire. Ready Player One's total global debut amounts to $128 million, making for a worldwide total of $181.2 million. Variety reports the film opened to roughly $8.1 million in Korea, $7.3 million in the United Kingdom, $6.1 million in Russian Federation, and $6 million in France. Putting the Iron Giant in a massive multiplayer VR battle don't come cheap. The Taraji P. Henson-led psychological thriller earned an estimated $17.1 million in its domestic debut. The movie opened broadly to 63 territories worldwide, and nothing came close to it. Tyler Perry's Acrimony took second place in the US with a $17 million opener haul.
