In a lengthy article by BuzzFeed News Reporter Ariane Lange, Robyn Byrd and Katie Rice recounted tales of reaching out to Kricfalusi as teenage Ren & Stimpy fans in the 1990s.
He sent her art supplies, set her up with her first AOL email account, and even visited her at her home in Arizona. When she was 16, he allegedly flew her to Los Angeles and sexually assaulted her near his studio.

Rice says that while they never had a physical relationship, he persistently sexually harassed her when she started working for Spumco at age 18.
Nickelodeon fired Kricfalusi in 1992, prior to when Byrd and Rice said they were preyed upon by him. He later introduced them to each other online, saying he would one day hire them at Spumco, his company. He mailed her back, she said, starting a years-long relationship that resulted in her moving in with him in the summer of 1997 after he promised her a career.
THE creator of cult cartoon Ren & Stimpy has been accused of sexual harassment, bedding a teen intern and owning child abuse images. She reportedly started receiving flirtatious letters from the animator when she was 14. He acknowledged going to her 15th birthday party. Rice also alleges she saw images of child pornography on Kricfalusi's computer, while one of his ex-girlfriends (who requested to not be named) also alleged that she saw child porn on his computer.
Other corroborating details are included in the report, including emails, conversations with relatives, friends, and co-workers of those involved, and media appearances showing Kricfalusi's comfort with sexualizing underage girls. On the second visit, Kricfalusi procured Byrd an internship at his studio and began living with her.

In December, police reportedly told Byrd that her allegations were too old to be investigated. Rice said. "Well, because this asshole told me when I was 13 that I was special, and I don't have any self-esteem, so I believe it".
Kricfalusi's attorney brushed Byrd's claims off as the side effect of mental illness. The lawyer denied that Kricfalusi exposed himself to Rice and dismissed the rape comment as a joke.
She said: 'He ruined a good bit of my childhood and my early adulthood, gave me PTSD, and forced me to change careers, putting my life 10 years or more behind'. "We're cool and rebellious because we're breaking the rules of society.'" She said that he described 25-year age difference as "romantic".
As is common in these types of stories about men in power, Kricfalusi's relationship with Byrd and attraction to young girls was an open secret.
"Since that time he has worked feverishly on his mental health issues, and has been successful in stabilising his life over the last decade". When pressed for comment, a lawyer for Kricfalusi confirmed he had a "16-year-old girlfriend", attempting to play off the 90s as a period of fragility for the animator. Over the years John struggled with what were eventually diagnosed mental illnesses in 2008.
