Russia's Seattle Consulate
The UK Embassy in Russia has refused to comment on the order of the Russian side to cut its diplomatic staff by more than 50 people amid the controversy caused by the so-called Skripal case.
The counterclaims from Moscow came as the last Russian diplomats were set to leave the countries where they were posted.
The above was told during a news conference on Monday (April 02).
The Theresa May government of the United Kingdom accused Russian Federation of culpability after finding the nerve agent used in the attack on the Skripals to be novichok developed by the erstwhile Soviet Union and Russian Federation between 1971 and 1993.
Insisting Moscow "could not have a motive" to attack Mr Skripal - who was "pardoned" at the time of a spy swap - Mr Lavrov said there were other explanations.
Lavrov also mocked Britain's claim that there was no plausible alternative explanation for Russia's involvement, and he asserted British intelligence could have been involved.

MSD High Students Will Now Use Clear Backpacks For Security Reasons
Many view the clear backpacks as a violation of privacy, with some understanding the logic behind having metal detectors. On social media, students criticized-and mocked-the clear backpacks , comparing them to airport security.
"After that, I said it may lead to nowhere". Britain has called it "highly likely" that Russian Federation was responsible for the attack using a nerve agent developed in the USSR. Britain and its allies accused Russian Federation of launching a chemical attack against them. "That is why we have expanded the list of our questions adding new ones, and are waiting for the answers", he went on to say. Britain has dismissed the various, often contradictory, theories, that Russian Federation has put forward, with even the Foreign Office publicly mocking them on social media.
Mr Lavrov also said it was "outrageous" that Britain had failed to provide consular access to Ms Skripal since it emerged that her condition was improving. He said he hoped Sergei Skripal would also get better.
The UK mobilised the European Union and other worldwide platforms against Russia and a massive retaliation followed as two dozen countries expelled more than 150 Russian diplomats from their respective territories, including the UK and the US.
Russian Federation had earlier expelled 23 British diplomats and last week told envoys from 23 other countries that some of their staff must go home.
A spokesman for Russian president Vladimir Putin said that Moscow was ready to take further retaliation measures against the United Kingdom if its trade mission in Britain was shut down.
In Washington, officials dismissed the statement from Putin's top foreign policy aide, Yury Ushakov.
