Syria Intercepts Hostile Missiles in Homs

Even the USA, along side the United Kingdom along with France, ran air-strikes on Saturday in Syria to punish the Assad regimen for an apparent chemical weapons attack from civilians.

According to the SANA news agency, a false alarm of an airspace violation triggered the launch of air defense sirens and several interceptor missiles in the early hours of Tuesday, but there was no external attack on Syria.

The TV quotes an unnamed military official as saying that air defences fired a number of missiles because of a false alarm today, without providing more information.

Syrian state television had earlier reported missiles were shot down by the Assad regime's air defences.

Somalia, UAE explain funds seized at Mogadishu airport
The UAE said the money was to pay for the salaries for Somali soldiers as part of an agreement between the two countries. Somalia called on the United Nations Security Council to "take the necessary steps" to "put an end to these actions".

Syrian Central Media, which described the incidents as confrontation of a new "aggression", said the missiles targeted Shayrat air base in Homs.

They also reported that three other missiles targeted the Dumair airbase in the north of Damascus, but were also intercepted before reaching the targets.

The report comes a few days after the U.S., Britain and France conducted airstrikes targeting alleged chemical weapons facilities in Syria, in retaliation for a suspected chemical weapons attack that they blamed on the Syrian government.

Syria has strongly rejected the allegations as fabrication by the rebels and Western countries to justify their attack on Syria. Asked about reports of the missile attack, an Israeli military spokesman said: "We don't comment on such reports".
