Murder suspect led search for friend he allegedly killed cops
"This is somebody who obviously planned this, who tried to plan it well", said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Lt. John Corina.
"Things did not add up", he said.
Sanchez, a South El Monte High School student, was first reported missing when his father learned the teen failed to show up for school Wednesday morning.
Authorities did not immediately provide additional details and said the murder weapon has not been recovered.
The suspect left his body at the wooded place stabbed Sanchez multiple times, researchers stated. The suspected killer is now being held at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall. Corina said investigators aren't sure if there was an argument or problem with their friendship that led the 16-year-old to allegedly kill Sanchez. Most students at El Monte Union High School were aware of Sanchez's bi-sexuality, and many seem to agree with the police conclusion that extreme attraction led to Sanchez's tragic murder. Police say it was the suspect and another friend who reported finding Sanchez's remains.
On Thursday morning, detectives arrested the suspect at his home. "We have no words to describe the grief that their family is experiencing right now".
There's a GoFundMe page page that appears to have been set up to help with the funeral expenses.

Recalling their last exchange, Castellanos told the teenager not to eat junk food because he wanted him to stay a star athlete. Veliz said Sanchez was already looking forward to the football season next year. "I was just in tears, emotional, you know", friend and teammate Anthony Gomez told CBS2.
