A third encounter is now going on in Kachdoora area of Shopian where some civilians are trapped.
"In the incident, Ashraf, a resident of Mouchpona village suffered serious bullet wounds and was shifted to the nearby district hospital where he succumbed to injuries", he said. "In Draggad Shopian 7 bodies of terrorists recovered including top commanders".
Apart from killing one terrorist and capturing another, forces also recovered arms and ammunition from the site. "The other did not do so and instead resorted to firing on the forces which was retaliated and in which he was killed", read the police statement. Even as the infiltration continued, around 124 locals joined militant ranks in 2017 and 27 boys joined the militant ranks in first three months of 2018.
