Two deputies in Trenton Florida were killed in the line of duty on Thursday
Two Gilchrist County deputies were killed earlier this afternoon when they were shot by an unidentified assailant or assailants. Fellow deputies responding to the scene found the shooter dead outside the business.
"GILCHRIST COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE has suffered a awful tragedy", says a post from the Gilchrist County's account.
The cops were eating at a Chinese restaurant in the city of Trenton, about 35 miles west of Gainesville, when the shooter walked up and started blasting through a window, officials said in a statement.
Sheriff Bobby Schultz was expected to speak publicly.
