Court filings show that all the Younkers and Bergners stores in IL and Iowa will close as part of the sale of their corporate owner to liquidators. The liquidators will only accept returns if they meet Bon-Ton's return policies that were in effect on the date they were purchased, the court documents said.
The company states in a press release that it "is committed to working constructively with the winning bidder to ensure an orderly wind-down of operations that minimizes the impact on associates, customers, vendors and the communities we serve".
On April 18, 2018, Bon-Ton officially announced Bankruptcy Court approval of the sale of the inventory and substantially all of the Company's assets.

Brookfield Square is undergoing a transformation with the south end that Sears once occupied being turned into a Marcus Bistro Plex, as well a possible conference center.
