The Department of Homeland Security is in search of builders to the invention of a database that would track news shops across the globe and obtain advice on journalists, journalists andldquo;media influencers.
Even the DHS Media Monitoring program would grant the preferred business "24/7 usage of some password protected, media influencer database, for example editors, writer, correspondents, societal media influencers, bloggers etc.", to its role of identifying "almost any and all media coverage linked to the Department of Homeland Security or a particular event".
The request said NPPD 'has a critical need to incorporate these functions into their programs in order to better reach Federal, state, local, tribal and private partners'. Also, it would have the ability to track media coverage in over 100 languages, along with the "ability to create unlimited data tracking, statistical breakdown, and graphical analyses on ad-hoc basis".
The selected contractor for this eyebrow-raising project will be tasked with setting up a database allowing users to browse details such as locations, type of influencers, and the publications they write for.

According to 2017Q4 Securities and Exchange filling the Ing Groep Nv increased its holdings in Shire Plc ( SHPG ) by 9043.05%. The company has a market cap of $47,454.13, a price-to-earnings ratio of 10.35, a PEG ratio of 1.23 and a beta of 1.31.
The request is being explained away as necessary due to heightened concern for accuracy in media reporting and the potential for foreigners to influence U.S. DHS would leave itself an opening for collecting "any other information that could be relevant" about these influencers, and no details are provided as to what that could be.
The contractor will be required to compile a list of more than 290,000 news sources, such as online, print, broadcast, cable, radio, trade and industry publications, as well as social media.
A department spokesman didn't immediately return a phone call and email seeking comment. Seven companies, mainly minority- or women-owned small businesses, have already expressed interest in becoming a vendor for the contract, according to the FedBizOpps web site.
