'American weapons are the best' Trump boasts as US eases rules on drone sales
Some of the largest weapons manufacturers in the US, including Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and Northrop Grumman, saw their stocks grow amid the news.

The move would make it possible for USA arms firms to directly market drones instead of forcing foreign customers to apply to the government.
In a joint new conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Florida, Trump said late on Wednesday his administration was working to "short circuit" the cumbersome bureaucratic process at the State Department and the Pentagon to expedite arms sales to Japan and other allies.
The co-existence of the will to promote arms sales and the concern for human rights, however, has not convinced experts who feel this would encourage the potential abusers of human rights more.
"The new policy retains the legally binding language that prohibits weapons transfers when there is actual knowledge that they will be used to commit war crimes", Brittany Benowitz a former U.S. Senate staffer and lawyer who worked on human rights issues and arms transfers.

The United States pioneered the use of unmanned aircraft, some of them flown by pilots half-a-world away through satellite links to a ground station, for spotting missions and missile strikes. Previous rules dictated that drone manufacturers had to go through military officials, the State Department and Congress to make such sales.
"The administration's UAS export policy will level the playing field by enabling USA firms to increase their direct sales to authorized allies and partners", Navarro said in a teleconference with reporters. The system at that time was "not broken but it's certainly burdened", Rixey said.
