Redmi S2 to come with 18:9 screen, dual cameras in this Xiaomi budget phone too
The self-proclaimed "India's camera beast", Xiaomi's Redmi Note 5 Pro, is the phone to look out for in India.
Most of you probably already know that Xiaomi will nearly certainly rebrand this phone to the Mi A2 at some point, and re-release it with stock Android as part of Google's Android One project, at least based on the success of the company's Mi A1 smartphone which was released previous year. Although the company is best known for their mid-range devices at budget prices, Xiaomi also sells plenty of smartphones with flagship-level and entry-level specifications as well.
According the information sniffed in by XDA-Developers from some firmware files, Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Redmi S2 smartphone in India and China. Xiaomi is expected to introduce 18:9 aspect ratio display as standard in of all upcoming offering, including budget smartphones. Notably, the device will have dual cameras and a face unlock feature that is now only present on a handful of Xiaomi devices. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 64-bit octa-core processor will fuel the Xiaomi Mi 6X, and a battery with 2,910mAh capacity will also be a part of the package.

Regarding the camera setup, it will have a rear dual camera of 12 MP (IMX 486 sensor) + 12 MP (Ov12a10 sensor ) in the primary camera setup. Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, Redmi 5 plus, Mi A1 and Mi Max 2 has been powered by the same processor.
In Indonesia, the Redmi Note 5 with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage is priced at 2,499,000 IDR (about RM706), while the higher spec 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is going for 2,999,000 IDR (about RM847). For the front, it is expected to have a 5-megapixel Samsung S5K5E8 sensor. That said, this smartphone will have 16 GB of internal storage, but, we might also see a 32 GB storage variant that might come with more RAM. Coupled with the power-efficient Snapdragon 625 and the low-resolution display, this device will probably easily last a full day or two on a single charge. On the software front, the device will be shipped with Android 8.1 Oreo and MIUI 9.5. These are the markets where such a device is most likely to succeed.
