In a tragic incident in Bihar, a total of 27 people have died due to fire in a bus, after it overturned, in Bihar's Motihari district.

According to media reports, it has been learned that the bus overturned while its driver tried to save a two-wheeler on National Highway 28 near Moga hotel in Kotwa. Death tolll is expected to rise.

The mishap took place near Bhanaspatti village in Sitamarhi district when the bus, which was heading towards the adjoining town of Muzaffarpur, skidded and came crashing down from atop NH-77. The accident occurred under the Kotwa police station area, over 75 km from the state capital.

The locals are now helping the passengers trapped in the bus and the Motihari district administration officials have also rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. Police officials confirmed that rescue teams have reached the spot.
