Earthquake Tremors Felt in Kashmir Delhi-NCR Parts of North India Epicentre in Hindukush Region

Initial reports suggest the quake magnitude has been recorded at 5.5 on the Richter scale, with 12 kilometres in depth and its epicentre was 20km North-West Bannu.

The tremors were felt in different areas of the country, including northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, northwestern tribal areas bordering Afghanistan, eastern Punjab province and the capital Islamabad, local media reported.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, an quake measuring 5.5 magnitude hit Islamabad and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and eastern Punjab provinces.

The natural disaster hit Pakistan at 8:25 am and tremors of the quake were also felt in places like Manshera, Dera Ismail Khan, Abbottabad, and Mardan. Few jumped from second and third floor of the building. The injured have been moved to District Headquarters Hospital.

The US Geological Survey says the temblor was centered just across the border, in a remote part of Tajikistan.

In Islamabad and Kabul, people fled their offices and homes and recited verses from the Holy Quran in the streets.
