Abe, Li discuss N.Korea, bilateral ties
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and visiting South Korean President Moon Jae-in exchanged views on promoting bilateral relationship as well as peace on the Korean Peninsula during a meeting here on Wednesday.
The presidential office said Moon told the two Asian leaders that he had personally confirmed North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's goal of realizing complete denuclearization through the inter-Korean summit.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang called on Wednesday for Sino-Japanese relations to get back on track during his long-awaited official visit to Tokyo.
After the talks, Abe said he hoped to see the worldwide community press "North Korea to take concrete steps towards complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, and peace and stability in northeast Asia".
North and South Korea are technically still at war because their 1950-53 conflict ended in a truce, not a treaty.
During the bilateral talks held on the sideline of the three-way summit that also involved Japan, South Korean President Moon Jae In emphasized the importance of seeing a "success" in the upcoming talks between USA and North Korean leaders on nuclear issues.

The top-level meetings come as tension over North Korea's development of nuclear weapons eases ahead of what would be a historic meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Li noted that the North has a firm determination to completely denuclearize and that the country fully understands what it needs to do.
Japan has been seeking global support for resolving the issue of Japanese nationals abducted by North Korea in the 1970s and 1980s, along with Pyongyang's denuclearization. -North Korea summit has been set.
Moon asked for China's continued support, especially for the upcoming North Korea-U.S. summit that he earlier said may decide how and when North Korea will give up its nuclear ambitions.
"We reached the common recognition that the complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, [and] the permanent establishment of peace and development of the intra-Korean relations are crucial", he said in a statement after the trilateral talks.
"After the first meeting between me and Comrade Chairman [Kim], both China-DPRK relations and the Korean peninsula situation have made positive progress".
