Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav arrived in Hyderabad to meet CM K Chandrashekar Rao in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister made it clear in no uncertain terms that he was not after short-term gains when he said that it would be a long journey, extending far beyond 2019, and the ultimate objective was to bring about a qualitative change in national politics and governance.
Asked if Rao will be open to joining hands with the Congress, the TRS functionary said that may not happen, adding, "The Congress has not been able to make any significant impact (in the political scenario)".
We don't declare anybody as untouchable. "Invitations are being extended to other regional party heads too", a spokesperson in the chief minister's office was quoted as saying.
Rao said the agenda would be prepared in the coming months for the proposed coalition in consultation with others. In a month or two, a full agenda will be placed before the country. One party or one person can not prepare agenda for such a big country.
"Its not appropriate to say as to which party will be with us and which party will not be", the young leader replied. This new alliance has no name yet, but it will soon be announced. Many have to be convinced about the need for a qualitative change in politics. "So we have room for another 35 parties", said Akhilesh Yadav.

The Samajwadi Party chief said his party was in complete support of Chandrashekhar Rao's efforts. "Without this, you can not get water through the taps, can not give water to farmers", Akhilesh Yadav said alluding to the Telangana government's programmes of Mission Bhagiratha and implementing various irrigation projects. He said that the Congress in Telangana should expose the KCR's family rule and corruption. "This is not a mere political alliance", he said. Apparently, Stalin made KCR to make certain amendments to the original blueprint he had initially prepared against Congress and BJP, both national parties.
Akhilesh, who came to Hyderabad to hold discussions with KCR, appreciated the latter's effort to bring all the regional parties on a single platform, but refused to commit on avoiding the Congress party in the front.
"Right now the situation is in a liquid state, but the idea is to bring regional parties together".
According to senior TRS leaders who did not want to be named, Rao is gauging which regional parties will go along with him in the 2019 general elections.
