Legal notice slapped on Akshay Twinkle to immediately stop auctioning of Akshay’s Rustom naval officer uniform
Former Army officer Lt Col Sandeep Ahlawat and his batch-mates have sent a legal notice to Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna for auctioning the costume of Rustom as a "naval officer's uniform".
The Bollywood couple has claimed that the money raised from the auction would be used for social causes and 90 per cent of the net proceeds from it would support NGO Janice's Trust, an animal rescue service, treatment centre and shelter based in Panchgani in Maharashtra.
According to reports, members of the armed forces have served a notice to Twinkle and Akshay to cancel the auction "failing which necessary action shall be taken against you under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code".
The group, which also included the wife of a Navy man and seven retired officers, said it was offended that the actors had listed the costume as an "original naval uniform".

As of Wednesday afternoon, the highest bid offered for the uniform - which includes a shirt, trousers and a hat - was Rs 2.35 lakh.
The controversy started after Akshay Kumar tweeted about the auction on 26 April. We have taken this decision to auction the costume that I wore in the film for a noble cause and I don't believe we have done anything wrong by taking this decision.
Akshay Kumar had said recently said the outfit was being auctioned off for a good cause. However, responding to Ahlawat, Twinkle Khanna asserted that they did not see any harm in auctioning the uniform saying, "As a society do we really think it's all right to threaten a woman with bodily harm for trying to raise funds for a charity by auctioning a uniform used in a movie, a piece of film memorabilia?"
