Alvaro Morata reaches agreement to leave Chelsea FC this summer

Chelsea have reportedly made initial contact with Paris Saint-Germain over the transfer of Edinson Cavani in a bid to secure a replacement for Alvaro Morata, should the striker return to Juventus this summer.

The Blues have struggled in front of goal all season long as they have only managed to score 64 goals in 36 English topflight matches.

It emerged on Monday that Morata's entourage have struck an agreement with Juve, and the 25-year-old is so desperate to go back to Turin he has offered to take a significant pay cut.

In addition to that, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 giants could also sign the player on a permanent deal and not on loan with option to buy.

Cavani's age is understood not to be an issue for the Blues who believe his height and strength make him a flawless fit for the Premier League, who is considered an upgrade on the struggling Morata - who has scored just 11 league goals since his club-record move from Real Madrid last summer.

The Uruguayan has scored 28 league goals this season, leading both the PSG and Ligue 1 scoring charts, though the French champions are willing to let him leave.

Though, earlier in the season, the 31-year-old had a row with the world's most expensive player, Neymar, and PSG will be hoping to avoid such fallout again next season.

However, Chelsea are likely to face competition from the likes of Atletico Madrid and Juventus for Cavani's signature.

Before joining the Parisians, he spent three seasons at Italian side, Palermo and equally recorded 78 goals in 104 matches. He has amassed more than 350 goals for club and country in a career spanning almost 15 years.
