Another significant risk of severe storms today
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch into Tuesday night for large parts of Kansas as well as parts of Nebraska and Iowa.
A Tornado Watch means conditions are ripe for severe weather that could produce a tornado.
A surface area of low pressure is located across part of eastern Kansas and will move northeast later this evening with a dry line positioned across far western OK and western Kansas.
A staggering number of tornadoes will not be the only problems for the USA in the upcoming areas, as severe weather could also create flash flooding, strong winds and hail. It was three degrees shy of tying the record high of 90 set back in 2001, but 20 degrees above normal value for early May.

Once this round exits there will likely be a lull in the storms in the afternoon. Thursday night: 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2 a.m. Cloudy, with a high near 81. The low will be around 56 with a south southwest wind of 9 to 15 miles per hour becoming west northwest after midnight. There's nearly no chance that will continue throughout May, one of the deadliest months for severe weather in Oklahoma.
We could see around an inch of rain close to area-wide through Friday. Saturday looks like the wettest day this time with as many as 6 to 8 hours of light to moderate rainfall.
Friday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 77, the weather service said.
