Apple acknowledges mic issue in these iPhones after iOS 11.3 update
The users report the mic on their iPhones does not work anymore and they also report the speaker during calls, seems to be greyed out.
Love or hate the iPhone X notch that so many Android device manufacturers are (allegedly not) copying, the divisive screen cutout did make Face ID integration possible, which was probably the top selling point of Apple's most expensive handset yet.
And now, according to another leaked document sent out by Apple to its Authorized Service Providers, the company has detailed the process the service staff should follow when dealing with iPhone X units plagued by Face ID issues. Now, it may sound weird that fixing the rear camera addressed Face ID issues, there have been known cases where users who had issues with their rear cameras also turned up having issues with Face ID.
It further adds that the techicians at Apple Authorised Service Providers have been told to first ask users to disconnect/power off any Bluetooth headset or other audio accessory connected to their devices to see if that helps solve the issue.
It's not even clear what the link is between the rear dual lenses and Face ID.

When an iPhone X owner experienced problems with FaceID and the rear camera shortly after launch, they were informed the front-facing True Depth camera and the rear telephoto camera were connected. MacRumous grabbed a document that Apple shared with the service outlets, explaining the matter.
One such reddit user explained the conversation he had with a Genius Bar personnel - "I was talking to the Genius Bar guy and he said that the cameras are connected". The telephoto lens wasn't working, hence the problems with Face ID.
Users experiencing this problem have all been using a phone operating on iOS 11.3 or subsequent versions of the software.
And now the support document from Apple, seems to confirm the whole issue.
Apple Store employees should look forward to a busy week/month.
