Two black men arrested for sitting at a Philadelphia Starbucks without ordering anything settled with the coffee-shop chain Wednesday for an undisclosed sum and an offer of a free college education.
Nelson and Robinson were arrested on April 12 after they declined to order drinks because they said they were waiting for a third man to arrive for a business meeting.
Starbucks also reached a settlement with the two men, the company said in a statement.
Rashon Nelson and Donte Robinson settled for a symbolic $1 each and a promise from city officials to set up a $200,000 program for young entrepreneurs, the AP reported.
So Nelson and Robinson had public opinion on their side - and appeared to have good standing for a potential lawsuit.
