The cars being recalled were made between 2007 and 2011 and include both petrol and diesel models.
BMW is recalling more than 300,000 cars in the United Kingdom because of an electrical fault that has caused some vehicles to cut out.
The BBC, whose Watchdog consumer programme reported on the stalling issue, said that BMW had initially recalled 36,410 petrol cars previous year over safety issues.
The initial recall of 36,410 cars has now been extended after they realised that a similar fault could be in other models.
The initial recall followed a 2016 fatal accident in Guildford when a man in a Ford Fiesta died after the auto left the road and hit a tree after trying to avoid a stalled BMW.
On Christmas Day 2016, a stalled BMW on a dark A-road forced Narayan Gurung to swerve his Ford Fiesta, losing control and colliding with a tree.
One BMW owner, Mwape Kambafwile, told the BBC how his BMW 3 Series vehicle had cut out completely while he was driving in December 2016.
'I felt so uncomfortable driving it that we took taxis, I walked to work every day.

BMW said it had worked with the DVSA and rejected suggestions it had ignored instructions or provided incorrect information.
The latest recall follows a BBC Watchdog Live investigation, which discovered that vehicles could cut out completely while they are being driven.
However, an inquest revealed that they had complaints regarding the same problem as early as 2011.
Affected owners will be contacted by BMW directly.
In the USA BMW recalled 500,000 cars in 2013 to address the problem.
"We are therefore announcing today that we will take the proactive step of expanding the existing United Kingdom recall to cover all vehicles potentially affected by the power supply issue".
