IGP Idris
For the third time in a row, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has refused to appear before the Senate.
Recall that the police boss was first summoned on April 25 but he failed to appear. He did not show up.
Also, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha called for a closed session for the lawmakers to determine the action to be taken by the Senate against the IG.
Idris, absent for the third time, was summoned over the saga of Senator Dino Melaye and the spate of killings across the country.
"Distinguished colleagues, we have taken the contributions and the general consensus is that we give a specific date, Wednesday 2nd May 2018 11 am, for the IG of Police to appear".
"The senate therefore view this persistent refusal is a great danger to our democracy and hence the senate resolved to declare IGP as an enemy of democracy and not fit to rule any public office within and outside Nigeria".

"For the last two days, we have tried to reach the IGP to appear before us but it was not possible", he said.
The red chamber considered his conduct as a gross disrespect to it; especially after court had overruled his earlier attempt to ignore senate invitation.
The senate president mandated Ahmed Lawan, senate leader, to "look into the matter for further necessary action".
The Chairman Senate Committee on Police Affairs Senator Abu Ibrahim informed the Senate that the Police boss was on an official assignment in Birnin Gwari Kaduna state.
The Speaker disclosed that he and Senate President Bukola Saraki raised the issue of treatment meted to Senator Dino Melaye by the Police.
