Dismissing concerns that the trade tensions between China and the USA could potentially escalate into a trade war, famous U.S. billionaire investor Warren Buffett said Saturday that the world depends on the United States and China for progress and that both the countries need to focus on common interests. In addition, Apple announced a $100 billion share repurchase authorization.
"We have a lot of common interests, and like any two big economic entities, there are times when there'll be tensions, but it is a win-win situation when the world trades", the investor said. This year seemed "a little bit more awkward and uncomfortable in the morning than I've experienced in the past". On Saturday, he expressed optimism that the US and China would resolve an increasingly tense trade relationship, and said that extreme partisanship in America is making people miss the overwhelming potential of business in the country. "Eight is a lucky number in China". He said in February that he didn't think he should force his personal beliefs upon Berkshire and its managers and shareholders.
Crypto bashing: Buffett and Munger were particularly severe in their criticism of cryptocurrencies, reiterating their discomfort about investing in them.
