ZTE says main business operations cease due to US ban
ZTE said its main business operations have ceased due to a 7-year supply ban imposed by the USA government, Reuters reported.
Last month, the US Commerce Department blocked American firms from selling parts or providing services to ZTE until 2025.
ZTE announced it has shut down operations and closed its online store following a USA ban against it.
Huawei, the largest telecom equipment maker, is also facing some investigation by the USA administration.
"The Company and related parties are actively communicating with the relevant USA government departments in order to facilitate the modification or reversal of the Denial Order by the US government and forge a positive outcome in the development of the matters".
The ban that threatens to cut off ZTE's supply chain came amid heightened tension over a possible U.S.

The UK government also revealed it was uncertain about ZTE shortly after, with the NCSC issuing a warning to UK telcos urging them not to use ZTE equipment.
"It is unacceptable that [the US Commerce Department] insists on unfairly imposing the most severe penalty on ZTE even before the completion of investigation of facts", the company said in an April statement.
However the company stated that it still has enough money to fulfil its commercial obligations, and is communicating with the USA government to try and modify or reverse the blocking order.
A ZTE employee told Reuters that staff had been reporting to work as normal but "with not much to do". Another said he hoped the Chinese government would help, saying he was confident President Xi Jinping would "sort out this trouble".
ZTE was accused of violating U.S. sanctions on North Korea and Iran, as well as lying to United States officials.
The ban "will also cause damages to all partners of ZTE including a large number of US companies", ZTE's public filing states.
