Yokefellow going postal for food
People can participate by filling the bags with non-perishable food items and leaving the donation by their mailboxes.
Back in 2010 they passed the one billion pound mark in total food collected over its history.
Typically, bags are left at mailboxes along the respective postal routes, which local residents are encouraged to fill with food so it can be picked up during the collection day on Saturday. Food donations will benefit the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina.
Second Harvest of South Georgia is excited to see the bright bags line neighborhoods Saturday for their Stamp Out Hunger food drive.
Last year, 47,000 pounds of food were collected in Bismarck, while 11,000 pounds of food were collected in Mandan.
On Saturday, Michigan City letter carriers will give you one easy way to help restock area food pantries.

Local "Stamp Out Hunger" coordinator Kenny Vogt said the Orangeburg post office gets support from area branches, including Cope, Bamberg, North, Bowman, Denmark, Neeses, Norway, Rowesville, Santee, St. Matthews, Vance, Springfield and Branchville.
"This annual food drive demonstrates how the Postal Service goes beyond just delivering the mail to helping those in our communities who are less fortunate". The community can also visit foodbankcenc.org/SOH to donate to the Stamp Out Hunger Virtual Food Drive.
Local letter carriers will be participating in a national food drive this weekend.
Canned meats, including tuna, chicken and salmon; canned and boxed meals; and canned fruits and vegetables are among the most desirable food items to donate. Items that cannot be accepted include rusty or bulging cans, foods that are clearly beyond their expiration date and home-canned items which all have to be disposed of for health reasons.
Kennedy said the need for food donations is great.
