Why Facebook asked users if posts contained hate speech
The option appears at the bottom of every post in the users' newsfeed as an orange "warning" box containing an exclamation mark and the question "Does this post contain hate speech?".
People saw the question appear on innocuous posts, including one from The Bad Apple bar in Chicago talking about menu items.
Facebook on Tuesday started to ask some users whether posts on their News Feed contained "hate speech". It's not clear how many users were affected, but for those who were, the internal feature showed up in every timeline post, including advertisements.
"It's going to make a lot of people not want to use Facebook", he said.
Facebook's vice president of product management, Guy Rosen, said the problem was solved within 20 minutes.

Bangladesh Muslims observe holy Shab-e-Barat
The festival is viewed as the night when God forgives all the sinners and rewrites their destiny for the ensuing year. According to this, Shab-e-Barat takes place from dusk today, May 1, until dawn tomorrow.
That is the message that thousands of Facebook users have reported seeing on their news feeds.
However, many took issue with the hate speech button being available for all posts, regardless of what may be considered offensive under Facebook's own criteria.
This is in light of accusations from Republican congressman Steve Scalise that Facebook's algorithm was discriminating against conservative news and content in favour of liberal posts.
Just last week, Facebook shared its updated community standards "to encourage expression and create a safe environment".
Last month, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg told U.S. Congress that the company is looking into how to effectively use AI to identify hate speech, although he noted the process is hard. Tuesday, Facebook accidentally rolled a feature out to users that prompted them to report hate speech on the social media platform.
