Overall, almost 5,000 utility customers were affected throughout the region, with the bulk of them in Monroe and Wayne Counties.

While the cause of the outages has not been determined yet, there are high wind warnings and advisories across West Michigan.

About 30,000 Central Maine Power customers lost power, including Franklin County which was hardest hit with about 9,320 customers without power Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Few National Grid customers in the Rochester area were without power early Saturday.

Wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour are possible in some areas. New Hampshire's largest electric utility reports restoring power to more than 25,000 overnight.

Consumers Energy says there were more than 88,000 reported outages across the Lower Peninsula, with 55,000 homes and businesses still without power as of 10:30 p.m. Friday.

County emergency dispatchers said there were no serious accidents despite the damage to trees and power lines.
