Typically, the best post positions tend to be in the middle.

The 143rd running of the Preakness Stakes is set for this Saturday as Justify looks to continue his undefeated career in the second leg of the Triple Crown.

According to kentuckyderby.com, a long-standing horse racing belief held that no horse could ever win the Kentucky Derby if it hadn't raced by the time it was two years old. Bravazo finished 8 lengths behind, with Lone Sailor 9 1/4 lengths out. Among them will be some familiar faces - Good Magic, Bravazo, and Lone Sailor will all look to improve upon their finishes at Churchill Downs.

No. 5 Good Magic is the second choice at 3-1, and No. 1 Quip is third at 12-1.

As in the Derby, rain is forecast for the Baltimore area on Saturday.

The race is set to start just after 6 p.m. on NBC. A furlong is one-eighth of a mile, so the Preakness is 110 yards shorter than the Kentucky Derby. Trained by the Triple Crown-winning Bob Baffert, he drew Post 7, same as he had in the Derby, and was installed as the 1-2 morning-line favorite during the draw on Wednesday at Pimlico Race Course.
