File this in your Pleasant Monday Morning Surprises folder: Superhot is getting a Japan-inspired standalone, codenamed Superhot JP.

Superhot JP will feature an all-new storyline as well as a range of Japanese settings including "hot springs, samurai castles. karaoke bars and bullet trains".

Today, new content was announced not by Superhot Team, but by Japanese developer GameTomo.

The landing page of this game is available on GameTomo's site and acts like Q&A. It's tentatively called Superhot JP.

As of now, the Japanese developers over at Game Tomo project that the finished project will contain roughly 15-18 regular levels, and 3-4 endless levels. Players can also expect newly imagined menus, UI, and story-line. There's a few new weapons, including a bow and arrow and, presumably, samurai swords to use as well. Superhot JP will be released for PlayStation 4 and PC. According to GameTomo, the game is an alternate story campaign rather than a full-fledged sequel, and is made under supervision from the original team.

However, it's nearly going to be too Japanese-centric, as it will actually be released first in Japan and then "possibly" other countries around the world. It'll be released in Japan first and then possibly worldwide at a later date.
