Three of six buildings in the same residential complex have removed the name Trump after the 2016 USA presidential election, some citing security concerns, according to the report.

Other Trump-branded buildings, including Trump hotels in New York, Toronto and Panama, have removed Trump from their name.

Last year, the board at 200 Riverside began to consider taking down its own signs - after some residents complained that the Trump name might reduce their property values in liberal NY. In court papers, Trump Organization lawyers argued that the building owners were only charged $1 to use Trump's name and that, in addition to the single dollar, the owners were giving "assurance" that the name would appear on the building "in perpetuity".

But Eric Trump, the president's son, said the fight was still worth it. Therefore, nothing prevents the board from taking it off the building.

The entity "failed to explain how plaintiffs have breached the licensing agreement". In 2000, the building at 200 Riverside Boulevard entered into a licensing agreement with DJT Holdings, one of Trump's companies, giving the 46-story building the right to use the Trump name.

He said: "Actually several clubs asked for me at that time, I think the PSG heard the proposals at the beginning, but, finally, it was not done because of numbers".

That's nearly the number of Trump Place condominium owners who responded to an informal poll early last year that voted to strip Trump's name off the roughly 20-year-old building facing the Hudson River.

However, Bransten pointed out Trump can sue the board if it scraps the affiliation with a majority of the residents approving such a change, the report said. If more than 50 percent of unit owners agree, the signs would come down.

According to The Washington Post's David Farenthold, 200 Riverside Boulevard between 69th and 70th streets in Manhattan is allowed to remove "Trump Place" from its facade.

The board plans to conduct a formal vote of owners to decide the matter.
