Oklahoma Senate passes permit-less carry bill
The Oklahoma State Senate has approved a measure that would allow citizens to carry firearms without any kind of permit. Nathan Dahm passed on a 33-9 vote shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday as senators met late into the night. The proposal will have no effect on places where carrying a weapon is now prohibited, like schools and government buildings.
Many Democratic lawmakers were aghast at the bill, with Democratic senator Kevin Matthews pointing out that state residents need a license to drive a vehicle. Be says the Senate Bill 1212 would allow people to carry guns who shouldn't.
With the bill's passage, it now goes to Gov. Mary Fallin for consideration.
