This move from the government comes after a royal decree was announced to get rid of the ban on women driving back in September 2017.

"In order to obtain a private driver's license, applicants must be at least 18 years old while those applying for a public driver's license must be at least 20 years old", said Maj Gen Al Bassami.

A spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition said Saudi air defenses hours earlier had also intercepted a ballistic missile originating from Yemen and targeting Saudi Arabia's southern city of Jizan.

Al-Bassami's statement added that: "It is no secret that many women in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hold driving licenses from overseas".

Some of the instructors at these schools will be women who have learned how to drive in a different country.

Alvaro Morata reaches agreement to leave Chelsea FC this summer
Before joining the Parisians, he spent three seasons at Italian side, Palermo and equally recorded 78 goals in 104 matches. However, Chelsea are likely to face competition from the likes of Atletico Madrid and Juventus for Cavani's signature.

This could help tackle several issues raised in recent months, including women fearing that conservative male driving instructors would fail them on goal.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, 32, is thought to be the "driving force" behind the ban being lifted, and his Vision 2030 plan for a post-oil era hopes to elevate women to a third of the workforce - it is now 22%.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. In addition, Saudi Arabia is now being guided towards a transformative phase in its advancement by the country's 32-year-old Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. He made series of reforms in the conservative kingdom.

According to Saudi activists, this social change will only be superficial without dismantling the kingdom's rigid guardianship system.

Saudi women no longer require male permission to start a business. In Saudi culture, women are bound to take permission from their husbands to study, travel, or perform other activities.
