A riot at a police detention center near Indonesia's capital left five officers and a prisoner dead and another officer held hostage Wednesday.
Police said four officers were negotiating with the prisoners.
A counterterrorism investigator said in a text message that six officers had been taken hostage by the inmates, and five of them were killed.
Even as the riot was unfolding, the Islamic State's media arm uploaded videos and photos that they claimed were from inside the detention center, showing executed hostages and detainees brandishing weapons, raising the black flag of the Islamic State and pledging allegiance to the group's leader.
Chief security minister Wiranto said the incident was being treated "very carefully because it concerns national security".
The deadly riot broke out late Tuesday at the facility inside the Mobile Police Brigade headquarters in Depok on the outskirts of Jakarta.

The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the riot in a statement through its Amaq News Agency, which Iqbal rejected.
The prisoners are suspected of having taken weapons from the police who were killed.
"I can say that the negotiation process is still ongoing".
Mr Iqbal denied IS was behind the attack or that it had been planned. He said a dispute had broken out over checks by prison authorities of prisoners' food. "The bodies have been transported to the Kramat Jati police hospital", National Police spokesman Brig.
Islamic State sympathisers have carried out a series of mostly low-level attacks in Indonesia over the past few years.
Clashes at the detention center came just one day after the National Police arrested three individuals in Bogor, also in West Java, for supposedly planning a string of attacks on police stations across the province. In 2017 two suicide bombers killed three police and wounded 12 others at a Jakarta bus terminal.
